Take a wind down moment

time flying

Make time for yourself over the festive season to ditch the stress and relax – whether you have 5, 15 or 30 minutes try out our Soul Space tried and tested solutions:

If you have 5 minutes:

Take a spicy tea break (Tea Pigs have a lovely Spiced Winter Red Tea) add it to hit frothy milk – what better way to warm you down to your toes on a cold, crispy morning?

Breathe Easy:

for a quick calming fix, place one hand on your tummy and the other on your chest, take a deep breath in through your nose, ensuring your diaphragm inflates with enough air to create a stretch in your lungs. Breathe out slowly….Breathe in and count to 4, breathe out to the count of 6.

If you have 15 minutes:

Have a Mindful Shower

• Feel the sensation, temperature, pressure of the water on your skin. Hear the sound as it falls and sprays.

• Observing the droplets splashing on your body, take time to feel your skins texture and colour.

• Deeply inhale the scent of the shower gel as you wash; feel the lather.  Notice how you relax under the heat of the water. Keep focused and witness all of these sensations in the present moment.

if you have 30 minutes:

Wrap up warm and take yourself out on a brisk walk to clear your mind, try some of the mindfulness tips outdoors too…feeling the air on your skin, your breath, each step as you lift your feet to walk.

Wind down for bedtime – switch off all technology, have a hot non caffeinated drink, a mix a few drops of lavender essential oil into your body cream, give your lovely legs a massage, then prop your legs up against the wall for some amazing relaxation time! The legs up the wall yoga pose is a favourite in our yin yoga classes at Soul Space 🙂
